What Is A Green Building?

What is often a green building and why would you care? Why are people building efficient green homes? What is the biggest reason is for the increased interest in eco-friendly houses? The answers may surprise you!

What is usually a Green Building? A green building (the noun) is often a building that is specially designed to save lots of energy, promote healthy indoor air and have much less affect the environment.

Green building (the verb) is principally a construction saying used to describe entire home system design and techniques that use environmentally in a friendly way, or green building, materials, and components.

The following terms are just about interchangeable when talking about houses: greenhouses, green home, eco home, eco house, garden greenhouse, green developing a house, green home designs, or building efficient green homes.

Here are some of the significant instances of using green materials with the home:
1. recycled glass countertops - stylish and eco-friendly
2. bamboo flooring - grows quickly with durability much like hardwood
3. environmentally friendly furniture - made out of sustainable or recycled materials, or certified wood
4. Tankless water heaters - water is heated when needed, saving energy
5. low-flow shower heads and LED faucets that switch on and off automatically
6. energy saving appliances and lightweight fixtures
7. alternative energy such as solar and wind power

Why are people building efficient green homes?  Why friendly to the environment houses? As I mentioned, a better solution may surprise you. Most people think the #1 reason to "go green" is for your environment or to save energy but, based on a recent survey created by the folks at Building Green TV and RCLCO, the biggest reason people are building greenhouses is good for health reasons! In fact, the full 42% of these surveyed replied that health was the #1 reason to build a natural home. Only 17% said they might be motivated by energy savings, in support of 12% for that environment!

What do eco-friendly houses are locked up in health? According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the following contains a few of the things that can be causing all your family members health problems in your home:

Radon, Environmental Tobacco Smoke, Biologicals, Carbon Monoxide, Nitrogen Dioxide, Organic Gases, Formaldehyde, Respirable Particles, Pesticides, Asbestos, Lead, and Chlorine.

In fact, the EPA estimates that this pollution levels in your home could be 3-70 times the outdoor pollution levels in first cities!
